“The Secret Life of You and Me is full of heart and honesty – a delightfully personal and thoughtful one-woman show” Whats on Stage
“Lowri Evans is a remarkable actress and researcher” The Telegraph
Amelie-esque Lowri Evans pieces together a sparkling constellation from stuff, love and forgotten things in this heart-warming solo show about life, love, meanings and memory.
As Lowri hurtled towards her thirtieth birthday she had become an expert in invisible things “break ups, phone calls, friends moving away”. The Secret Life of You and Me is about the space between us and most importantly how we connect across it. This one-woman show – part live performance, part art installation – creates a stunning scrapbook of storytelling inspired by Lowri’s experience of working with people with dementia and a long distance relationship spanning the UK and Brazil.
“Making new memories with strangers has been part of how we’ve created the show”, says Lowri, “I’ve been meeting complete strangers off the train; and getting fellow-travellers to write to me in the misted up windows of buses.”
This meddling voyeur will turn the telescope onto her jumble sale of collected memories, stitching them together in an exquisite fusion of filmic image and haunting soundtrack in what she describes as: “A live scrap book. An unfinished love affair. A made up true story.”
The forthcoming national tour promises some unusual locations from a launderette to an observatory, as well as some imaginative interventions on the street. There will also be some anti-valentine’s magic around Ovalhouse on Fri 14 Feb at 6pm with a love letter writing workshop with a difference – sick bags provided!
