For this, her forth exhibition at The Stables, Michelle Bennett will present for the first time her fantastic new collection of ceramics inspired by nature and the sea. Showing alongside artist Chris Roskell the exhibition will run from Monday 26 May through to Saturday 26 July at The Stables Theatre Art Gallery in Hastings.
Michelle says of her work, “When I work in clay each piece is a sculpture, you have the form made with your hands and then when you glaze it’s like painting an abstract picture with the added excitement that when it enters the kiln something wonderful and magical happens making each piece truly unique. I love painting but there will always be this passion for ceramics and for the unknown.”
Michelle Bennett has been a resident of Hastings for the past 45 years. In 2004 she completed a foundation course in fine art run by Brighton University and has gone on to exhibit at a range of galleries across Sussex as well as delivering a number of private commissions. She has had a life-long passion for art and ceramics, and her love of nature and the sea continually inspires her, which is evident in her use of colour and movement both in her paintings and ceramic pieces.
